Ghost in the Shell (Japanisch: ?????, K?kaku Kid?tai, ein Bewegliches Gepanzertes Überfallkommando), ist ein japanischer Cyberpunk manga geschaffen durch Masamune Shirow. Eine Fortsetzung, Ghost in the Shell 2: Mannes/Maschine Innocence ,wurde 2002 veröffentlicht.
Im Laufe der Jahre ist die manga Reihe in den folgenden angepasst worden: drei anime Filme - Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Solid State Society; zwei anime Fernsehreihen - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig; alles Erzeugtes durch die Produktion I.G. zusammen mit einem PlayStation game, one PlayStation 2 game und one PlayStation Portable game .
